Expanding on the success of Cubit 7, which was released in March, the Buildsoft development team has been working hard with a focus on integration and flexibility, to deliver you an even more easy to use estimating solution.
We’re excited to announce the release of Cubit 7.1 – packed with new and enhanced features to help improve the way you estimate.
Here’s a quick look at what’s included.
Enjoy easier takeoff with our newest result type
We’ve introduced Length By Centres as a result type, which you can use directly from your takeoff. It’s the perfect solution for calculating bearers, joists and rafters, as well as rebar.
This powerful new feature will allow you to select the direction of centres, their spacing and also calculate a grid, making it significantly quicker and easier for you to get the calculations you need.
For example, if you’re a commercial builder looking to calculate rebar, you can set the result type to Length By Centres, then set the spacing our engineers calculated and specify any extra lengths. You can takeoff the slab perimeter and in the calculations sheet you’ll be able to see the lengths required.
A residential builder could use this new result type to calculate bearers and joists, and might use a grid to calculate them with different spacing, and with bearers could include the edge.
Create purchase orders easily using our enhanced integration with Xero
We’ve received lots of feedback about enhancing the way Cubit works with Xero.
We’ve listened and have been working to refine our software integration, to enable you to streamline your processes and save time. Now, you can send specific items from your Cubit job directly into Xero to create a purchase order, at the click of a button.
Once you’ve sent your job to Xero, a purchase order number will automatically appear in the new Purchase Order column, which is located in the Item Sheet.
If you’re using an accounting system other than Xero, you can enter your own purchase order codes into the Purchase Order column.
Start your job quicker with Cost Plans
A new feature for our Cubit Pro customers is the Cost Plan Template, which you can use to start a new job quickly.
This is a feature which customers of our Legacy program Global Estimating, will recognise as Elemental Mode.
The template has been designed specifically for the Australian commercial construction industry, and is pre-set with 47 specific trades – also known as elements, including 30 that contribute towards building cost. You’ll be able to check the value of a specific trade towards building cost, using the new BC percentage column. This will show you the total percentage of each trade that contributes towards your overall job.
Improve the way you analyse trades by calculating a Trade Rate
If you’ve ever wanted to simplify the process of calculating a trade rate, then this new feature is for you.
This is another feature that our Global Estimating customers will be familiar with, being known as 7 Column Mode in that system.
You can calculate a trade rate based on specific item quantities within a trade, helping you to improve the way you look at and analyse the trades in your job. Simply select the items that contribute towards the trade quantity that will then be divided by the Trade Total to determine the Trade Rate, which is easily visible at the Trade Heading Level.
Reference shapes across multiple trades
Cubit 7 introduced referencing and redefined the way you work, by providing you with more flexibility and power in the way you estimate jobs.
We’re extending this even further in Cubit 7.1, with the added ability to reference shapes.
Where you could previously reference cells and rows, you can now also reference shape results across multiple trades throughout your estimate, and if there is a change, the calculations will be updated automatically. All it takes is a simple drag and drop from the shapes pane.
Get better results for windows and doors
We’ve also improved the way you work with Windows and Doors in your job, with the addition of Height and Width results. This will give you better access to individual measurements and the ability to reference them. For example, you can reference the width of an opening to calculate sils or architraves.
These features are just the start of what you can expect when you choose Cubit as your natural estimating solution. It's all part of our commitment to making construction easier.
Let Cubit help you estimate smarter and takeoff faster. Our Product Consultants are ready to provide you with a personalised demonstration to show you how you can use Cubit to make your work simpler and more efficient.
We’ll then give you a 14 day FREE trial, so you can try out every feature and see why Cubit is the estimating and takeoff solution for you.
