Cubit Estimating 2024 : July Release

Delivering easy and efficient ways for you to perform your work is a priority for us at Buildsoft.

We’ve been listening to customer feedback, and one of the challenges we’ve heard is using Cubit Select to work with tender variations and post-tender workflows. So we’ve introduced a new tool to help you manage changes to your quote comparisons, with Snapshots.

You can now create a Snapshot, which will save your quotes and associated notes at a given point in time, so you can make changes to your Trade Packages and still retain the original information.

One of the great benefits of this new feature is that your Snapshot is saved within your job, removing the need for you to export the job as a separate copy - it’s all saved conveniently in one place.

After saving your quotes as Snapshots, you can move on to make any changes to the quotes without worrying about losing or re-entering data when you need to go back to a certain state. Snapshots allow you to revisit earlier data at any time, making your workflow efficient and flexible.

For example, you may have finished your comparison process and picked the suppliers you will use for your job, but then receive a revised scope of works or drawing changes from your client, requiring you to make changes to your estimate. Using this new feature, you can create a Job Revision in Cubit 10, take a Snapshot of your quotes and selected subcontractors in Cubit Select, and then work on the newly revised scope of works. If the client changes their mind, you can get the previous quotes and selected suppliers back quickly and easily.

Snapshots

Cubit Select also allows you to take multiple Snapshots in one job, so you can save multiple milestones to build out any number of pricing options you need for a specific project, while still retaining the link to your estimate in Cubit.

This means you can more easily manage the decision making process, making it simple to review various potential configurations for your job, or at various milestones of its progress. For example, you can save a few Snapshots of different combinations of picked supplier quotes, and compare the pricing by reviewing the Snapshots to choose the best option that suggests more profit and less risk.

The ability to save multiple  Snapshots in one job also assists you to manage your pricing information through your collaboration process, allowing you to save the tender history in case of any review or handover process; reducing the risk of data loss through changes made by team members by simply opening a Snapshot you saved earlier, and continue to work from that state.

Snapshots allow you to work with more confidence that you have the right data when and where you need it, in order to make the right decisions.
